The Hermes mastering router from SPL allows processing of the audio signal with up to 8 stereo devices in any order. Three processing chains can be stored and quickly compared with each other. Like all other devices of the mastering series of SPL Hermes works with the 120V technology. Also integrated are two Parallel Mix stages, each of which can be routed completely freely to one of the eight processors.

Mastering Insert Router

The left area of the front panel contains the display. Here the places within a chain, the names of the devices and the switched on Parallel Mix stages are displayed. Below this are the buttons for the 8 possible devices and settings. New chains can easily be created, saved and labeled.

In the middle part the Parallel Mix stages are assigned to the desired devices. The settings of the mix stages are made in the right part. Here are the power-on buttons, mix controls (dry/wet), controls for the level of the parallel processed signal and the power-on switches of these controls.

The routing is passive and equipped with gas-encapsulated and gold-plated high-end relays. To obtain the highest possible channel separation, the stereo channels are arranged on two separate boards. The inputs and outputs are balanced XLR. The sends and returns A-D also have XLR sockets, the four other sends and returns E-H are connected via a D-Sub connector (DB25).
