- safe against RF interference with “RFI Shield
The CMC 1 KV from Schoeps is a microphone amplifier that is about 60% smaller and 40% lighter than the CMC 6. For this purpose, it is identical to the CMC 1 U, but instead of a built-in XLR connector, it has an attached cable. It can be used without any compromise instead of a CMC 6 with all components of the Colette system including the MK capsules. Thus, it offers uncompromising miniaturization for applications where the size of the microphone is an issue.
The electrical and sonic characteristics of the CMC 1 are in no way inferior to the CMC 6. On the contrary: through elaborate, modern electronic design, it has been possible to achieve outstanding electrical properties. Thus, it is particularly high output (135 dB-SPL with the MK 4) and still consumes very little current (2 mA at P48).
The CMC 1 KV is available in the following versions:
- #132018: 2 m cable with XLR-3M plug
- #132019: 0.5 m cable with Lemo-3pin for sound devices
- #132020: 0,5 m cable with Lemo-3pin for Zaxcom

CMC Microphone amplifier
Microphone capsules of condenser microphones cannot be operated directly on microphone cables or inputs. This requires the interconnection of a microphone amplifier. Each MK capsule of the Colette series must therefore be screwed to a microphone amplifier and only together with it forms a complete microphone.
The CMC 1 KV can be operated on 12V and 48V phantom power. The circuitry of the CMC 1 KV automatically detects the supply and adjusts to it. Its characteristics remain essentially unchanged – only the current is adapted to the supply voltage. This is higher at 12V than at 48V. Nevertheless, the power consumption is lower at 12V, which is advantageous for battery operation.
