The scarcity of original parts causes engineers to deviate from the original design and create an improved, unique, modified device. Mixing engineer Chris Lord-Alge, who has decades of experience and a wealth of sought-after equipment, was able to clearly assign one of his four 1176 Blue Stripe units to this category. This particular unit, called “Bluey,” has a special mojo that shines on vocal tracks like no other. Chris wanted more channels of this golden device and turned to the guys who know mods best – the team at Black Lion Audio! Intrigued by Chris’ praise for the unit, lead developer Jesus Ortiz hopped on a plane from Chicago to L.A. to find out what made this Blue Stripe so unique. He found a series of modifications made to the unit over the years to keep it running, which miraculously resulted in a unique 1176! BLA painstakingly analyzed the unit and worked with Chris Lorde-Alge to rebuild the monster that is now known as the new Black Lion Audio “Bluey”!
