Stereo Ribbon microphone
After the Sigma was often used by studios such as Abbey Road as a pair for stereo recordings of pianos or room signals, Sontronics developed the Apollo. In terms of components, this microphone is the same as the Sigma with the difference that two ribbons are used in X-Y position to realize the Blumlein technique with a single microphone.
This successor model is still made of high quality components and got a sound refinement compared to the previous model. One of the innovations is RFI filters, which eliminate interference and reproduce a particularly clean signal.
The microphone has high sensitivity combined with low self-noise. As is usual with ribbon microphones, the Apollo 2 also delivers an intimate and natural reproduction. Defined highs, gripping mids and powerful basses characterize this microphone. It is ideally suited for room signals, choirs, chamber music, pianos and drums. It can also be used as a mono microphone for voice and acoustic instruments.
