The elysia xpressor|neo is an impressive further development of the popular xpressor compressor. It sets new standards in terms of both performance and appearance. This high-quality compressor combines an outstanding sound experience with an attractive design that will delight your senses.

The xpressor|neo has been technically improved and aesthetically enhanced. The front panel is manufactured to a high quality and has a less reflective surface. The precise values of the potentiometers are clearly visible and have been laser-etched into the aluminum. Textures are crisp and durable.

The thoughtful design of the xpressor|neo includes redesigned gain reduction LEDs for a clean look and comfortable operation. The keys have been designed with a small indentation that provides comfortable tactile feedback. The logo of the xpressor|neo is more prominent and is highlighted by the larger cut-out. The cut edges of the front panel reflect the light and give the xpressor|neo an appealing visual presence.

The xpressor|neo not only offers outstanding design, but also first-class sound quality and exceptional performance. With the high-quality potentiometers you have precise control over the compression process. The unique buttons offer a pleasant feel and fit perfectly into your studio.

As an authorized dealer, we are proud to offer the elysia xpressor|neo – an impressive tool for audio engineers, producers and musicians looking for premium sound processing and aesthetic inspiration.

Explanation of the special functions

Negative Ratios

What does that mean exactly? In order to better understand this function, it makes sense to consider what the ratio control of a “normal” compressor does:

– 1:1 The signal remains linear, there is no compression process.

– 1:2 After exceeding the threshold, a rise of 2 dB at the input is compressed to a rise of 1 dB at the output.

– 1:∞ After the threshold is exceeded, the output signal is kept constant at the threshold level without reacting to further increases at the input (limiter).
In the case of a negative ratio, the characteristic bends and returns to the bottom once the threshold has been exceeded. The louder the input signal, the lower the output signal – perfect for groovy compression effects.

In order to get the extreme “destruction” under control, switching on the Gain Reduction Limiter is exactly the right thing.

Gain Reduction Limiter

A special feature of the xpressor neo is the gain reduction limiter for the control voltage. This limiter is not placed in the audio path, where it is normally found, but in the compressor control path. When you activate it, it limits the control voltage according to the setting of the GR Limit knob. This means that the gain reduction will never exceed the value you set, no matter how high the input level is. The GRL acts as a practical second threshold control. While the “normal” threshold control tells the compressor when to start working, the GRL control gives you control over when to stop further compressing.

Thanks to the Gain Reduction Limiter, you can keep loud parts in an arrangement dynamic because they are not compressed beyond the limits of the limiter. This allows finer control over compression and precise adjustment to the unique needs of your music production. The xpressor neo offers you an additional dimension of control over your compression processes.

Warm Mode

This feature is essentially a slew rate limiter that reduces the speed of the output amplifier stages. This affects the frequency spectrum, the harmonics and the transient response simultaneously. Fast transients are slowed down a little, and the overall sound appears rounder and more fused. Schnelle Einschwingvorgänge werden etwas verlangsamt, und der Gesamtklang erscheint runder und verschmolzener.
In this way, the xpressor neo offers two different sound characters at the push of a button: the powerful transparency of the discrete class A circuit and the full richness of the warm mode.
Now the choice is really yours: For transparent compression and an even frequency response, simply use the xpressor neo in standard mode. For a slightly fatter and juicier sound, press the Warm Mode button and you’re done!

Log Release

It is the time constants and in particular the release parameter that decide whether a compressor’s processing is obvious or unnoticeable to the ear, as it is difficult to achieve perfect results for all types of different material with just one type of release curve , the xpressor neo offers two different options to choose from: logarithmic and linear. It is characteristic of a logarithmic release that the time constant becomes shorter and shorter as the gain reduction increases. The advantage of this behavior is that short and loud peaks (e.g. drums) have a fast release time, while the rest of the material is processed with a slower release time. Due to its smooth behavior, Log Release is particularly suitable for mastering and compression of stereo buses. Linear mode, on the other hand, has a straight release profile without the slower, tapered release characteristic of Log mode. Linear mode is a good choice for more aggressive dynamics control of dry signals, and is particularly useful when you want to process signals that don’t have a long decay time.
