The SMC is a monitor controller for stereo signals and surround up to 7.1. Two 7.1 and stereo input sources can be connected. This is useful to compare productions with each other.
A 7.1 speaker setup is controlled via the DB25 output. Besides the two XLR stereo inputs, there is a stereo output and mono sub out – also designed as XLR sockets. Furthermore, two 6.35mm jack connectors can be used to integrate e.g. a multi-channel metering.
Expansion Rack
In this version, the SMC 7.1 is installed in a 19″ housing. This allows the monitor controller to be installed in a studio desk or rack.
The case comes with a module that connects to the main out of the SMC 7.1. The additional module offers four outputs for speaker pairs and a controller knob to select the desired speaker.

Monitor Controller
All control units are located on the front panel. First, one of the four inputs can be selected from where the signal is to be tapped. Below that, all 8 channels can be activated individually. If “Solo In Place” is pressed, the channel activation buttons switch to solo buttons. This allows each speaker to be heard solo at its position. If “Solo To C” is selected, the buttons also switch over – with the difference that the desired channel is played back solo via the center box. Via “Mono L/R” the signal is monitored mono. If the project is to be played back via the Stereo Out, the “Alt” button is pressed. The signal can also be passed on to a headphone output if the button with the printed headphone is activated. The Mute button mutes all channels. The overall volume can be adjusted via the 45mm all-aluminum pot, while the headphone output has a separate volume control.
