The optical compressor circuit is definitely one of the most iconic studio tools of all time. Its sound has been immortalised on countless hits. The special control behaviour of the opto-compressor has been delighting audio professionals with its very special sound magic for more than half a century. The Lindell Audio LiN2A is designed to faithfully reproduce the sonic quality and ease of use of the legendary dynamics processor.
The 2A compression does away with the conventional ratio, attack and release controls of other compressors and instead offers a simple two-button interface with program-dependent response for fast results. Experience shows: It is almost impossible to make this compressor sound bad.
Although the LiN2A is visually and sonically based on the famous model, it uses updated components and circuits. The characteristic VU meter on the surface provides the vintage flair. The tube-driven electro-optical attenuation circuit with high-quality US-made transformers provides instant level reduction without increasing harmonic distortion and compresses audio material like no other type of compressor. At the same time, the compression can be driven from dynamically responsive to hard limiting with ultra-fast attack and level-dependent release. Thanks to its noble Black Lion Audio T4BLA opto element, the LiN2A can effortlessly deliver transparent level smoothing for silky vocals – or add a certain amount of bite and weight to bass and drum tracks.
