The Avalon V5 DI-RE-MIC preamplifier is a professional preamplifier, DI and RE amp. Designed for maximum versatility, the V5 combines its sonic signature – “deep and controlled bass, musical midrange and enhanced vocal projection” – with a unique set of user features, including 100% discrete pure Class A amplification, Avalon’s unique “passive” TONE-BANK™, professional VU meter with dual peak LEDs, multiple outputs including a transformer isolated instrument level re-amp. Designed to optimise absolute signal integrity and musical performance, the V5 is ideal for ribbon, dynamic and condenser microphones, bass guitars, acoustic instruments, electric guitars, keyboards, synthesizers and very low output passive pickups.

The state-of-the-art DI input stage offers very high impedance, “zero-load” effect on sensitive pickups and keyboards, while maintaining a huge input headroom of up to +36 dB from overload.

    – Instrument ~ DI: Unbalanced, 10,000,000 Ω, TRS, Gain +2 dB to +42 dB, max. Input level 36 dB.
    – Microphone HiZ: Balanced, 6,700 Ω, XLR, gain +20 dB to +60 dB, max. Input level 23 dB.
    – Microphone LoZ: Balanced, 1,760 Ω, XLR, gain +26 dB to +66 dB, max. Input level 19 dB.
    – PAD (passive input attenuator): Line -13 dB, Instrument -10 dB and Microphone -15 dB.
  • Phantom Power: 48V, regulated, 10mA, blue = current on, red = phantom power on.
  • Thru Output: Unbalanced, TRS with impedance buffering.
  • Max. Line output level: +30 dB, DC-coupled, balanced, 600 Ω, XLR~TRS.
  • Max isolated output level: +12 dB, transformer isolated, unbalanced.

  • Frequency response, -3 dB: 2 Hz to 500 kHz (internally band-limited).
  • VU meter: Professional moving coil voltmeter, wide range -33 dB to 18 dB.
  • Signal LEDs: LED peak indicator, blue = 0 dB, red = 20 dB.
  • High Cut Filter: -3 dB at 4 kHz, design with minimal phase shift.
  • Phase reversal (polarity reversal): All outputs switched with relay, including isolated output.
  • Tone Shape: Ten “passive” voices to improve clarity, problem solving and musical enhancement.
  • AC power supply: Internal toroidal AC power supply, selectable between 115V and 230V, 50/60Hz, maximum power 35W per channel.
