The Warm Audio WA-412 is a fully discrete quad mic preamp modeled after the legendary API 312, offering great American console sound at an attractive price. The Texan manufacturer reinterprets the construction of the original with creative freedom and adds some very effective extra features to the original design. An infinitely variable output trim per channel allows creative gain staging and targeted control of saturation effects. And the Tone switch for adjusting the input impedance also contributes to a wide spectrum between a neutral basic sound and a distinctly coloring character. This makes the Warm Audio WA-412 an extremely flexible studio upgrade and far more than just one of many preamp clones.

Professional sound for all sound professionals
With its sound characteristics, the Warm Audio WA-412 undoubtedly meets professional demands. The possibility of specifically dosing the typical punchy API character via output trim and tone switch is especially interesting for experienced and experimental users. In principle, however, the WA-412 can of course also be used with standard settings and in the sense of a set-and-forget preamp. The point that four high-quality microphone preamps are housed here in a single 19″ unit with only 1 U also makes the Warm Audio WA-412 a hot candidate for mobile recording rigs.
Puristic design and high quality standards
With its puristic design, the Warm Audio WA-412 is based on the circuits of the original API 312 and uses only high-quality components. For each of the channels are specially manufactured for the WA-412 input and output transformers from the American manufacturer Altran used. These play a central role in the sound character and are also used in the Hi-Z module for direct connection of guitars and basses. A real highlight for the modder scene is that the built-in X520 op-amp is attached via a plug connection and can be replaced by many other op-amps with 6-pin connection.
