Vertigo Sound VSP-2 Dual Mic Preamp
3.435€
- Total gain range: 12-72db
- Unbalanced input for bass, guitar and synthesizers
- Basic gain selection: 10-position Grayhill rotary switch in 6db steps
- Fine gain adjustment: 41-position Alps potentiometer 0-6dB
The VSP-2 is Vertigo Sound’s third big hit and defines a new standard in microphone preamplification.
At the heart of the VSP-2 is Vertigo Sound’s 100% discrete Twin Op Amp “1976”.
The combination of this discrete dual op amp and Cinemag’s outstanding CMMI-2C input transformer produces a uniquely warm and articulate sound. The input transformer’s low 1:2 transfer ratio allows for a reduction in capacitance and phase problems. The gain of 12 to 76dB is realized solely by the operational amplifier. This circuit design delivers the VSP-2’s typical unique characterful and defined sound.
- INSTRUMENT IN: Unbalanced input for bass, guitar and synthesizer.
The signal is now applied directly to the input of the ” TWIN OPA” without passing through any further amplifiers. When pressing the Instrument In/ Mic Input switch, the output of the VSP-2 is “muted” for a short time to avoid switching noise at the output. - 48V : Activation of phantom power with ramp switching
- -20dB: Input attenuation by 20dB. The input attenuation does not change the input impedance of the microphone inputs. When disabled, this attenuator is completely bypassed. Note: Use of the pad is recommended only for the 12dB-18db-24dB and 30dB gains. Use at switch positions above 30dB will result in increased noise.
- PHASE: Phase Rotation of the VSP-2 Outputs
- Basic gain selection: 10-position Grayhill rotary switch in 6db
increments. - Total gain range: 12-72db
- Fine gain adjustment: 41-position Alps potentiometer 0-6dB
- 120Hz/off/80hz: High-pass filter 2-stage
- Signal & Clip LED: This LED indicates level (green -6dBu) as well
as approaching clipping (red +19dBu) at the output - LED green: – 6dBu to 19dBu at the output of the VSP2s
- LED red: Clipping imminent at the VSP2’s output
- Note: The maximum output level of the VSP-2 is 24dBu, lighting
up warns of overloads at downstream devices such as A/D
converters etc. - 2-channel microphone preamplifier with 1.5K input impedance
- Cinemag Balanced In. That 1646 Balanced Out
- Dynamic range: 116 db @ 36dB gain
- Frequency response: 10 Hz … 35 kHz (+- 1db) @ 36dB Gain
- Max. Output level: + 24 dBu / 600 Ohm balanced floating
- Noise: -81dBu (20 Hz – 22 kHz – unweighted, RMS)
@ 36 db Gain
1976 FLASHBACK
Most modern microphone preamplifiers use an integrated circuit (IC) here.
The use of such IC components saves costs in development and manufacturing.
This is where the fundamental difference is found:
A fully discrete amplifier component! Vertigo Sounds “OPA 1976”.
This classic circuit concept in combination with Cinemag CMMI-2C transformers and Panasonic coupling capacitors is the basis for the outstanding sound quality of the VSP-2.
