The Phonitor One from SPL is a headphone amplifier with two analog inputs.
Input 1 has RCA sockets and is therefore unbalanced, while input 2 is a balanced jack (TRS).
A 12V power supply unit with 1.5A supplies the excellent amplifier with power.
In the secondary power supply, the voltage is transformed up to +/-17V and can therefore operate at a professional level of up to +22.5dB.
A low-drop operating voltage control ensures clean signals even when the maximum voltage is reached.
The special feature of the Phonitor One is that the innovative Phonitor Matrix is installed.
With the help of a crossfeed, a sound image can be created that comes very close to that of speakers.
In the largest version, the parameters Crossfeed, Speaker Angle and Center Level are available.
In Phonitor One, the most commonly used setting of -1dB center level and 30° speaker angle is preset.
The continuously adjustable crossfeed generates crosstalk between the two channels (interaural level difference).
If the crossfeed is set to “Off”, the signal does not pass through the hysteresis circuit implemented by the relay.

The audiophile Headphone amplifier
Two Burr-Brown OPA 2134 SoundPlusâ„¢ operational amplifiers take care of the preamplification. These have been specially developed for audiophile circuits and are characterized by extremely low noise and minimal distortion of just 0.00008%.
Thanks to a genuine FET stage, the OPA2134 achieves a slew rate of 20V/µs, making it a high-speed operational amplifier. This has an immediate positive effect on the liveliness and joy of playing.
Furthermore, low-capacitance film capacitors are installed in the signal path as bypass capacitors for the coupling electrolytic capacitors, which ensures more precise transmission of the high-frequency signal components.
The excellent Panasonic ‘Electric Double Layer’ gold electrolytic capacitors are used as coupling capacitors. They offer the highest storage capacity of all capacitor technologies.
