The Crescendo 8 from SPL Audio is an eight-channel microphone preamplifier and the further development of the popular Crescendo, which works with 120V technology.

The new version has the same technical features as its predecessor, but comes in a new design. The microphone amplifier has a 4 mm thick, black anodized aluminium front panel and solid, milled aluminium knobs. The housing is made of high-quality steel and powder-coated in elegant black.

Thanks to the 120V technology, it is almost impossible to overdrive this preamplifier. Incoming signals are reproduced with absolute signal fidelity and clarity.

Eight-channel Preamp

The Crescendo has everything you need for microphone preamplification on board. This includes +48V phantom power, polarity reversal, a low cut at 120Hz (with -6dB/oct.), a -20dB pad switch and, of course, a mic gain that can amplify from +18dB to +70dB.

If the signal is raised so much that the VU meter deflects too far, it is possible to reduce the displayed level by -10dB.

All eight microphone preamps each have two parallel outputs. This means that the signal can be output to two different devices in parallel. One output is available as an XLR line output. The second output is connected to a DB25 socket. These can be ideally connected to a multi-channel AD converter, for example, with the DB25 input typical for this type of device. An additional external signal splitter for back-up or backup systems during a recording session is therefore also no longer necessary.

The input differential amplifiers are equipped with transistor pairs, each of which is combined in a housing. Thanks to precise component matching and thermal coupling, high common mode rejection and extremely low THD values are guaranteed. Class-A 120V SUPRA operational amplifiers are used as current amplifiers.
