The V4 U is the studio vocal microphone from Schoeps. It combines the outstanding technical features typical of Schoeps with a timeless, classic design. The appearance of the V4 U is based on the Schoeps CM 51/3 microphone from 1951, but it is a modern cardioid microphone: capsule, electronics as well as the mechanics are the result of an elaborate new development.
The capsule has a 33 mm annular disc integrated, which ensures that gradual focusing is achieved at high frequencies, similar to a large-diaphragm microphone. Thereby the Advantages of a small diaphragm capsule preserved. Frequency response and polar diagram are extraordinarily uniform. In addition, the internal capsule suspension structure-borne noise such as grip noise.
The internal electronics consists of anewly developed circuit design with bridge outputstage, which is free of output capacitors and iron. This gives the microphone a low, particularly frequency-independent output impedance as well as particularly high unbalance attenuation. It features high immunity to interference due to gapless shielding and has a modern EMC filter with very good characteristics in the output. Themaximum sound pressure level is 144 dB SPL, which corresponds to an output level of 4.8 V.
