Schoeps CCM 2H L | Compact microphone with Lemo connector & omnidirectional capsule

The CCM series from Schoeps consists of compact studio microphones with accessories. The microphone capsule and miniaturized electronics are built into a compact housing. The capsule and amplifier are firmly connected. It is particularly popular wherever small size plays a decisive role, e.g. on the fishing line, in the conference area and in multi-channel arrangements. The CCM series is in no way inferior to the microphones of the Colette series: their acoustic transducers (capsules) are identical and the electronics have equally good characteristics.

The CCM has been specially developed for use close to the sound source (sound incidence from the front), especially for recordings of instruments, singers, etc.

The CCM microphone can be operated with 12V and 48V phantom power. The CCM circuit automatically recognizes the power supply and adjusts itself accordingly. Their properties remain essentially unchanged – only the current is adapted to the supply voltage. This is higher at 12V than at 48V. Nevertheless, the power consumption is lower at 12V, which is advantageous for battery operation.

This microphone can also be ordered as a modular Colette microphone, in which the CMC 1 L amplifier is combined with the corresponding MK microphone capsule. This allows the capsule to be replaced and has advantages in terms of electrical properties in combination with digital radio links.

If the MK 2H is used in rooms with medium recording distances, i.e. around the reverberation radius, it offers a constant and extended frequency response with low self-noise. As a result, it meets the highest sonic demands.

Compared to other pressure transducers, the sound inlet opening is reduced in size by a gold-plated ring. This results in a purely acoustic treble boost above 6 kHz, which is around 2 dB at 10 kHz. This reduces treble losses from diffuse sound in the room, which ensures a particularly natural sound image.

The MK 2H is ideal for natural recordings of instruments and orchestras in the room. The choice between it and the equally highly regarded MK 2S is primarily a question of personal taste. While the MK 2H is often described as balanced and round, the MK 2S is characterized by a somewhat more brilliant reproduction.

The MK 2H is particularly appreciated for AB stereophony and the Decca Tree, often in combination with the KA 40 ball attachment, which provides a stronger directional effect and a slight boost in the mid frequencies.
