Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-S | Stereo DI-Box

The Rupert Neve Designs RNDI-S is an active stereo DI box with custom transformers from Mr. Rupert Neve himself.
The RNDI-S is the stereo version of the RNDI and, just like its sister product, reproduces the full harmonic depth of the instruments and amplifiers to which it is connected.

Development – more than just symmetry

In view of the often disappointing sound quality of conventional DI boxes, Mr. Rupert Neve decided to develop a new direct interface that not only isolates and balances the original signal, but also transmits the sound and liveliness of the instrument unadulterated.
The result of these efforts is the RNDI, which lives up to this claim.
It delivers a powerful, dynamic direct sound that reproduces the full harmonic depth of basses, guitars, acoustic instruments and professional line-level signals.
With its powerful “larger-than-life” sound, the RNDI is the first DI box that deserves to bear the Rupert Neve name.

The sound – Individually manufactured transformers meet discrete FET amplifier

The two key components of the RNDI’s outstanding sound are the individually manufactured Rupert Neve transformers and the discrete FET amplifiers, which are carefully matched to each other.
Low frequencies are transmitted powerfully and accurately, while the high frequency range is clear, present and smooth, with a frequency response up to over 100kHz.

In instrument mode, the RNDI has a +21.5dBU headroom and can therefore process not only instruments, but also line-level sources such as interfaces, CD players and drum machines without attenuation.
This function makes it possible to use the RNDI as a kind of “re-preamp” to feed already recorded tracks with an interface through an improved or more characteristic preamp.

In speaker mode, the RNDI can process signals from amplifiers with up to 1000 watts of output power to capture the full sound of the instrument, preamp, EQ, inserts and output section of the amplifier before it hits the speakers.
This capability is particularly beneficial when the RNDI is used in combination with modern speaker emulation plug-ins.
In this way, users can benefit from both the flexibility of digital modeling and the sonic advantages of a real analog amplifier.
