The Josephson Engineering C42 is a general-purpose cardioid condenser microphone suitable for a wide variety of recording applications, including pickup of acoustic and amplified instruments, drums and drum overheads, ensemble and choir pickup, concert recording, sound effects, and vocals. The C42’s standard microphones are made of satin-finished stainless steel for years of rugged use.
The C42’s electronics consist of a selected discrete FET driving a balanced, transformerless, discrete Class-A output stage. The output impedance is low enough that very long cable runs can be used without signal degradation. Although the microphone is specified for full P48 phantom power, it will also work with phantom power as low as 24 volts, with some limitation on maximum SPL.
The C42MP stereo kit includes a matched pair of C42 microphones in a matte black chrome finish and a protective hard case.
