The IGS Audio Double Triode Limiter (DTL) is a versatile tube microphone preamplifier that combines classic design with modern features to deliver an exceptional sonic experience.
The DTL goes beyond the traditional tube triode preamp by integrating a musical opto-limiter based on a circuit from the 60s and 70s.
The DTL is designed to work seamlessly with a variety of microphones and offers a wide gain range suitable for recording powerful drum sounds as well as the subtle nuances of ribbon microphones.
It is also suitable for recording external devices such as synthesizers, drum machines and reamping tracks from DAWs.
The high impedance (HiZ) inputs on the front panel allow direct connection of electric guitars or bass guitars and offer a unique solution for tube amplification.

Tube meets on opto
The limiter section of the DTL extends the capabilities of this device and makes it possible to limit peak levels of the input signal.
The limiter is powered by a proprietary photoresistor cell developed by IGS Audio and effectively controls louder parts of the signal to prevent digital clipping at the ADC inputs.
The “Limit” LED on the front panel indicates when the limiter is active.
This function can also be used as a drum compressor or mix bus compressor to improve the overall dynamics of the mix and create a more brilliant sound.
The audio path of the DTL consists of a two-stage tube amplifier with individual controls for both stages.
The saturation levels are adjustable based on the input signal and the output control.
The inputs and outputs use Carnhill (UK) and Edcor (USA) transformers for high quality audio transmission.
The anode voltage is set to approximately 300V DC.
The unit has infinitely variable controls for gain, +48V, Mic/HiZ, phase and pad -20dB via dedicated switches.
The meters show the output level.
