Golden Age Premier PRE-573 PREMIER | Preamp

The PRE-73 DLX PREMIER is a single-channel vintage-style microphone, line and instrument preamp. The signal path uses only discrete components like resistors, capacitors and transistors. The line input, mic input and line output are transformer balanced, using three different transformers, each optimized for its purpose.
Audio components were built this way before integrated circuits became available. The subjective sound quality of vintage gear is often preferred to that of modern products, a situation that is now even more apparent when music is recorded with clean-sounding digital audio gear.

The circuitry used in the PRE-73 DLX PREMIER is similar to the preamplifier section of the classic 1073 module with a corresponding sound character that is warm, punchy, charming and musical. These classic characteristics have been heard on countless recordings for years, and it’s a versatile sound that works very well with most sound sources and in most genres.

The gain range of the pot is 70dB. A toggle switch can be used to add either +5 or +10dB. The switchable impedance allows the microphone input to be set between 300 and 1200 ohms. There is also an insert jack for looping in external effects.
