This is what calibration with GLM 5 offers:
– Automatic adjustment of in-room frequency response, delay time and listening level.
– Automatic settings can be freely adjusted, personalized and saved.
– Create and expand systems for all types of stereo, multi-channel or 3D immersive formats.
– Measure at any number of microphone positions.
– Enjoy the benefits of consistent performance and accurate reproduction in any production environment.
Use the GRADE report:
– Create a complete, annotated analysis of your room acoustics and SAM monitoring system performance, including ITU-R BS.1116 recommendations.
– You get detailed room and system measurements, including frequency responses, direct-to-diffuse sound ratios at the listening position, early first reflections and waterfall diagrams.
– Plan improvements to acoustic treatment, system positioning and bass management.
– Make improvements to your listening environment based on the report’s easy-to-understand and intuitive acoustic advice.

Perfect transmission
Genelec’s user-friendly GLM 5 software accesses the advanced internal DSPs of your SAM monitors and subwoofers and offers you comprehensive control of your system. First, the software analyzes your acoustic environment using the GLM controller and a reference microphone. Then, GLM 5’s AutoCal 2 algorithm optimizes each monitor in terms of level, delay time, subwoofer crossover phase and room adjustment in just a few moments. This gives you a linear frequency response and a neutral listening experience. If you wish, you can then manually adjust the sound further to perfectly match your listening preferences.
GLM 5 calibrates all SAM monitoring systems – from large immersive setups to compact ultra-near-field systems. The “Calibration Group ID” and “Subwoofer Group ID” functions make it easy for you to manage different monitor and subwoofer groups, so you can set up multiple layouts and calibrate them on the same system.
The GRADE Room Acoustics Report also provides you with a complete analysis of your room acoustics and the performance of your monitoring system. This allows you to better understand your room, evaluate physical improvements and optimize your studio overall. If you want to tackle smaller upgrades yourself, you will receive some basic tips. Professionals use the data generated as a basis for further acoustic measures. The report, which you can generate up to twelve times free of charge, provides you with specific evaluations and recommendations: from room acoustics measures and the appropriate positioning of monitors and listening position to the optimization of bass management and compliance with ITU-R BS.1116 recommendations.

Complete control
Calibration is just the beginning: GLM 5 also serves as a powerful monitor controller, allowing you to switch between different monitor layouts, precisely control the listening volume and save energy thanks to intelligent, system-wide power management – and that’s just some of the possibilities.
Developed in collaboration with renowned industrial designer Harri Koskinen, GLM’s intuitive hexagonal user interface has a clean, appealing aesthetic that seamlessly evolves and expands with your system. With a choice of ten languages and light and dark color layouts, GLM 5 offers you a highly adaptable and user-friendly interface.
Thanks to the extended MIDI functions, you can control your monitoring system quickly and smoothly with any MIDI-capable controller. Important GLM functions such as playback volume, mute, volume presets, bass management and monitor groups can be controlled effortlessly from the outside. Another new feature of GLM 5 is the system-wide control of “Mute” and “Dim”.
Whether you are installing GLM for the first time or are already a user and want to update to the latest version now: You can download GLM 5 for free from MyGenelec.
GLM Controller
If you want to calibrate and control your Smart Active Monitors and subwoofers with GLM 5, you need a GLM Controller. The advanced 9320A SAM Reference Controller offers you tactile control of the most important GLM functions as well as extensive additional monitoring options and audio outputs – including for headphones. It also acts as a bridge to UNIO and is ideal for anyone looking for a seamless workflow in the studio and beyond.
Alternatively, the standard Genelec Calibration Kit (8300-601) gives you easy access to all GLM and SAM functions – but without the advanced features of the 9320A.
Both the 9320A and the Genelec Calibration Kit are compatible with Mac and Windows and are connected via USB. You then connect your SAM monitors to the controller using a CAT cable (included separately with each monitor).
Please note that GLM 5 cannot control “classic” analog Genelec monitors. If you are using Genelec’s standard active models, you should set the DIP switches on the rear panel so that the frequency response remains neutral even when placed in the room. Further details can be found in the respective operating instructions.
