Dictator has been designed to be as versatile as possible on modern equipment alongside its traditional tube design and to integrate easily into today’s production practice.
The original aim was to process two-channel stereo tracks while ensuring the most precise stereo operation possible.
The Dictator’s controls were therefore also developed with this in mind.
In the context of creating the dual-mono version, the interoperability of the two channels is still important, but the two sides each contain a completely separately parameterizable Vari-U compressor, with almost the full functionality of the original Dictator.
Accordingly, all controls are equipped with switches to allow both compressors to be operated with the same settings.
The sidechain can still be linked.
So you could say that the Dictator Dual Mono is a two-channel tube dynamics processor that can pulse on a master bus or produce crunchy saturation as well as unprecedented transients and dirty breaks.
Or it can work as a simple saturator with minimal dynamic control.
