FabFilter Volcano 3 | Vintage Filter Plug-In

FabFilter Volcano 3 is a versatile filter plug-in for creative sound processing that has undergone extensive technical and design development in its third generation. At its heart is a completely redesigned user interface that features a modern workflow, visual modulation display and a detailed spectrum analyzer. The new interface allows simultaneous editing of several filters and offers intuitive control of the active modulation sources per target parameter via floating panels. Four different interface sizes and a full screen mode are available for precise work in complex setups.

At the heart of the sound are four analog modeled filters, which now also have bell, shelf, notch and all-pass characteristics in addition to the classic low-pass, high-pass and band-pass modes. Each filter has its own drive section for saturation, a 6 dB/octave option and separate volume and pan controls. This allows you to shape the sound not only with technical precision, but also creatively and musically.

Volcano 3 supports a variety of routing schemes, including stereo, left/right and mid/side. Filters can be connected in series, parallel or hybrid, which in combination with the filter selection allows for an enormous variety of sound variations. The modular structure is complemented by a powerful modulation section: envelope generators, envelope followers (with transient mode), XLFOs, XY controllers, sliders and MIDI sources are available in any number. All modulation sources are visually traceable to keep even complex setups clear. This is complemented by individually adjustable envelope curves and the option to rename modulation sources.

A high quality mode with 4x oversampling is available for maximum sound quality. The newly curated preset library makes full use of the extended possibilities of Volcano 3 and is fully compatible with presets from previous versions. Thanks to MIDI Learn, sample-accurate automation, Undo/Redo and Smart Parameter Interpolation, Volcano 3 is an intuitive yet in-depth tool for sound design, mixing and creative sound processing.
