FabFilter Twin 3 is a versatile virtual analog synthesizer, now in its third generation with a completely redesigned interface, improved sound architecture and a comprehensive effects section. With four flexible oscillators, four resonant filters, a powerful arpeggiator and an almost unlimited number of modulation possibilities, Twin 3 is equipped for a wide range of sonic requirements – from punchy basses and floating pads to percussive elements and complex FX sounds.

The four oscillators offer classic analog functions such as pulse width modulation, hard sync, phase sync and analog-modelled drift behavior for an organic sound structure. The new per-oscillator polyphony makes it possible to assign a separate oscillator to each note. The maximum number of voices has been increased to 64. The four filters have modulatable offset parameters for cutoff and resonance as well as new vintage-style EQ characteristics (bell, shelf, notch) and a 6 dB/octave option for particularly subtle sound shaping. The High Quality mode (4x oversampling) ensures maximum signal fidelity.

The newly integrated FX section comprises six modules: Reverb, Delay, Chorus, Phaser, Drive and Compressor. All effect parameters can be used as modulation destinations. In combination with the extended modulation sources – envelope generators/followers, XLFOs, XY controllers, sliders, MIDI – lively and dynamically reacting sound sequences can be created. The sound design is complemented by the new arpeggiator with host synchronization, groove/legato functions and extensive control over note sequence and timing.

The new user interface is fully scalable, offers a full-screen mode and enables intuitive navigation through floating panels and interactive displays. Oscilloscopes per oscillator, a spectrogram and a comprehensive modulation visualization facilitate targeted sound design. Further improvements such as transient detection, refined EG curves, extended XY controller handling and native sustain support considerably expand the creative scope.
