FabFilter Simplon | Basic Filter Plug-In

FabFilter Simplon is an intuitive filter plug-in with a professional sound character that is characterized by its simplicity and effectiveness. Based on the filter technology of FabFilter One and Volcano 3, Simplon offers two powerful, separately controllable multimode filters. Each filter module can be individually switched to lowpass, highpass or bandpass operation and supports slopes of 12, 24 and 48 dB per octave. The filters can be connected either in series or in parallel, allowing for additional sound variations.

Each filter offers three sound-defining characteristics that control the behavior and internal distortion – from soft and subtle to musically saturated to aggressively self-oscillating. This results in a total of up to 27 different filter variants that can be called up in just a few simple steps. This variety of sounds makes Simplon particularly flexible – whether for DJ effects, electronic synthlines or precise sound processing in the mix.

The large, interactive filter display allows direct visual editing of all filter parameters. Both filter curves can be adjusted simultaneously or separately in real time – ideal for live applications and creative performance. Thanks to its large control elements and direct feedback, Simplon is also ideal for controller-controlled setups.

Like all FabFilter plug-ins, Simplon features precise parameter control with Smart Parameter Interpolation, MIDI Learn, Undo/Redo and sample-accurate automation. Integration into production environments is supported by a structured preset library, interactive help notes and comprehensive documentation. Simplon is therefore a powerful tool for creative filter effects – reduced to the essentials.
