FabFilter Pro-MB | Multiband Compressor Plug-In

FabFilter Pro-MB is a powerful multiband dynamics plug-in that makes complex compression and expansion intuitive to use. In contrast to classic multiband systems, Pro-MB works with a freely placeable band concept in which frequency ranges are specifically defined without cutting up the entire spectrum with fixed crossovers. The visual display shows precisely which signal ranges are processed and which remain unaffected – for maximum control and clarity.

The three available processing modes offer maximum flexibility: Dynamic Phase combines the sonic advantages of conventional multiband methods with zero latency and no pre-ringing, with minimal phase changes only at the moment of level correction. For maximum precision, a Linear Phase mode is also available, while the Minimum Phase mode emulates traditional analog processing.

Each of the up to six dynamic bands can be configured individually: Parameters such as ratio, threshold, attack, release, lookahead (up to 20 ms), knee, output gain and stereo linking or mid/side mode can be set separately. In addition, a separate sidechain frequency can be set for each band for targeted triggering. The steepness of the crossover curves can also be freely selected – between a gentle 6 dB/octave and a steep 48 dB/octave.

The interactive user interface offers real-time frequency analysis with pre/post display and freeze function as well as drag-and-drop control for fast workflow. Individual bands can be soloed, muted or bypassed completely. The global dry/wet control can be used to scale the total effect amount – even beyond 100% for enhanced effect or parallel compression.

Thanks to Smart Parameter Interpolation, sample-accurate automation, MIDI Learn, Undo/Redo, A/B comparison and comprehensive preset support, Pro-MB can be seamlessly integrated into professional production environments. The internal processing is carried out with 64-bit precision, the graphic display is GPU-accelerated and optimized for Retina and high-DPI screens.
