FabFilter Pro-L 2 | True Peak Limiter Plug-In

FabFilter Pro-L 2 is a professional brickwall limiter designed for use in mixing, mastering and broadcasting. With a total of eight precisely tuned limiting algorithms – including Modern for balanced all-round applications, Aggressive for maximum loudness, Bus for drum and group tracks and Safe for distortion-free limiting – the plug-in offers versatile solutions for a wide range of production requirements.

A key feature is the True Peak Limiting function, which reliably prevents inter-sample peaks and can be seamlessly combined with the comprehensive loudness metering. The latter meets all current standards such as EBU R128, ITU-R BS.1770-4 and ATSC A/85. K-system metering and a precise level display for output and gain reduction are also available.

Technically, Pro-L 2 impresses with linear phase processing with up to 32-fold oversampling in “Superb” mode. This ensures maximum transparency with maximum control over dynamic processing. Functions such as the DC offset filter, the unity gain option for direct comparison of input and output as well as external sidechaining expand the application possibilities – especially in stem mastering.

The interactive real-time display visualizes input, output, gain change and loudness values with high resolution. Four different display modes – including Infinite mode for a complete session display – facilitate analysis. The clearly designed user interface is scalable, supports Retina and high DPI and can be operated in full screen mode for precise adjustments.

Additional functions such as professional dithering algorithms, freely adjustable attack/release times, look-ahead, transient and release-specific channel linking and extensive presets round off the system. Pro-L 2 automatically adapts to mono, stereo or surround layouts and also supports hardware control surfaces in Pro Tools environments.
