FabFilter Pro-C 2 | Compressor Plug-In

FabFilter Pro-C 2 is a flexible, high-quality software compressor with eight versatile compression modes that are specifically tailored to typical production situations. In addition to classic algorithms, specialized modes such as “Vocal” for concise voice processing, “Mastering” for transparent level control, “Bus” for musical glue behavior, “Punch” for analog reaction dynamics and “Pumping” for strongly rhythmic compression, for example in EDM, are available.

The compressor features a completely redesigned interface with Retina/High DPI support, multiple display modes and a full screen mode. The large-format knee display visualizes in real time when, how much and why compression is taking effect. An additional trigger audition function makes it possible to audition the signal in question – particularly useful for precise threshold settings.

The sidechain section offers a triple filter architecture with adjustable high- and low-pass filters and a fully parameterizable EQ band. Additional parameters such as a smooth lookahead (up to 20 ms), hold (up to 500 ms), a freely adjustable knee (up to 72 dB), program-dependent attack/release curves, auto release and range and mix settings offer in-depth control over the dynamic response. The mix function allows the compression effect to be scaled between 0 % and 200 % – from subtle parallel compression to creative overcompression.

Pro-C 2 supports up to 4x oversampling to reduce aliasing artifacts and is fully compatible with mono, stereo and mid/side configurations. The channel linking functions enable targeted M/S processing or complete channel separation. External sidechains and optional MIDI triggering extend the creative possibilities.

An extensive preset library, visual feedback via level and gain reduction in accordance with EBU R128 / ITU-R 1770 standard, GPU-accelerated graphics display as well as undo/redo, A/B comparison and smart parameter interpolation round off the range of functions.
