This type of cable is used to transmit digital control commands from MIDI-enabled devices. MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface and is mainly used for keyboard instruments like synthesizers and other electronic instruments (samplers, drum machines etc.). The MIDI protocol is a standard that was introduced back in 1982 and has been extended ever since. The connector is designed as a 5-pin and transmits the control data via two of these pins, the voltage of 5V and 0V is applied via two others and the ground is connected via the fifth pin. Audio signals are not transmitted with this cable. Our MIDI cables are robust and reliable thanks to the high-quality metal connectors, which is very advantageous for live operation.
