Converters, called converters, convert analog signal to digital (A/D) and vice versa (D/A) and are indispensable in the recording studio. There are three different forms of converters: A/D converters, D/A converters and A/D-D/A converters. The first two varieties convert in only one direction. The latter can do both and is included in every audio interface. For example, an analog microphone signal can be converted to a digital audio signal during recording, and the outgoing signal to the speaker can be converted from digital to analog.
