The 017 TUBE embodies the highly regarded sound of great vintage microphones in a modern way. The included S17 kidney capsule features a gold-sputtered, hand-tuned 34-mm diaphragm and captures detail with astonishing depth, warmth, and silky clarity in the high frequencies. The 017 TUBE is therefore particularly suitable for complementing subtle nuances of voices and strings. At the same time, complex instruments with challenging transients are reproduced with precision across the entire frequency spectrum.
The 017 series consists of FET and tube models. Both feature identical capsules, form factors, and sound signatures, but differ in a few details: The 017 FET captures transients with a slightly faster, tighter response, while the 017 TUBE, with its smoother, rounded high end, is perfect for sound sources that require warmth with a bit more coloration.

The Tsar of Mics
The classic sound of the 017 was once considered impossible to achieve with new microphones. Engineers routinely spent a small fortune on vintage condenser microphones and struggled to keep them functioning as they aged, since new models—and even reissues—often lacked the same desired characteristics despite their high price. This is not surprising: manufacturing techniques have changed, so why shouldn’t the results? With its open high end, smooth mids, powerful—yet balanced —low end, and remarkably robust construction, the 017 is destined to be the future benchmark for that elusive blend of precision and sonic charm that has driven up prices for vintage models.
Nigel Godrich
Radiohead, Beck
"I compared it [the 017] to my best tube U47, which is my all-time favorite mic... What was crazy was just how similar your mic sounded to the best mic in the world... I would definitely say that I would choose this mic over many others in real-world use."
Handcrafted
Like all Soyuz microphones, the microphones in the 017 series are entirely handcrafted: the housings and capsules are machined by hand, and the transducers are wound in Tula, Russia.
