SKY Audio VERDADE III Top + Sub (Pair) | Passive Reference Speaker

The SKY Audio VERDADE III Top + Sub Bundle is a passive full-range reference speaker system designed for recording, mixing, and mastering. The set consists of a pair of VERDADE III 2-way reference monitors and two passive VERDADE III-S subwoofers, each featuring a 10″ woofer. Combining the top speakers with the corresponding subwoofers extends the system’s low-frequency response down to 25 Hz.

The VERDADE III top speakers are designed as passive 2-way monitors. Each speaker combines a 180-mm low-midrange driver developed exclusively for SKY Audio with a Viawave SRT-7 ribbon tweeter. The low-midrange driver features a resonance-optimized die-cast basket and a specially tuned magnet system. The tweeter utilizes a sealed ribbon design.

The passive SKY Audio 226 crossover handles the division of the audio signal. It is built with carefully selected components and tuned to the speaker drivers used. The VERDADE III operates at a nominal impedance of 8 Ω. The recommended amplifier power is 2 × 230 W for the top pair and 2 × 300 W for the sub pair at 8 Ω. Since both the top speakers and the VERDADE III-S subwoofers are passive, suitable external power amplifiers and an appropriate system control unit are required. Without the subwoofers, the VERDADE III top speakers cover a frequency range from 35 Hz to 30 kHz. When placed close to a wall, the top speakers are specified to reproduce low frequencies down to approximately 35 Hz. The two VERDADE III-S subwoofers complement the lower frequency range and extend the overall system down to 25 Hz. The components are tuned to deliver a coherent sound image that preserves the top speakers’ stereo imaging, depth perception, and reproduction of impulses and transients.

The maximum sound pressure level of the VERDADE III is 118 dB at a measurement distance of 1 m for the stereo pair. The passive reference system is therefore designed for evaluating transients, dynamics, timbres, soundstage, and low-frequency signal components in professional production and mastering environments.

The enclosures of the VERDADE III top speakers are made of MDF and feature a durable, textured finish. The resonance-optimized enclosure is manufactured in Germany. For connection to power amplifiers, the speakers are equipped with elysia speaker terminals that are compatible with banana plugs.
