The MK 5 offers mechanical switching via a side-mounted slide switch. Both positions result in independent microphone capsules that offer the same high quality, but with slightly different characteristics compared to the MK 2S and MK 4.
In contrast to many double-diaphragm microphones, the MK 5 retains its directivity even at low frequencies and can pick up high frequencies up to 20 kHz. In the omnidirectional position, it provides excellent low frequency reproduction and is characterized by low sensitivity to wind, pop and structure-borne noise, as is typical for pressure receivers.
The MK 5 is an almost universal capsule and is particularly recommended for the first purchase or for those who are undecided.
Please note that the selector switch should always be set to exactly one of the two positions. Intermediate positions can lead to undefined results.
