The Rupert Neve Designs 5045 is a two-channel device that allows the engineer in a live sound environment to boost the microphone signal up to 20dB more before feedback without negatively affecting the sound of the source signal.
Thanks to its few control elements, changes can be made very easily and quickly. This makes the 5045 the perfect recommendation and an extremely useful tool for churches, stadiums, event halls or any other place where feedback is a problem.
Completely analog
The 5045 contains Rupert Neves custom transformers and completely dispenses with filters and digital technology. As a result, the source signal is reproduced completely and intact.
Simple operation
The 5045 is simply connected to the insert send of a mixing console or the line output of a microphone preamp. It is fed back to the corresponding insert return or the line input of a console. The few controls and the few reasons to change the settings again during a show make the 5045 an extremely user-friendly tool.

POWER STATUS LED
The LED indicates the power supply status.
PROCESS ENGAGE
Illuminated pushbutton that activates the effect of the Primary Source Enhancer.
TIME CONSTANT
To avoid interruptions in certain situations and to prevent feedback in other situations by setting how quickly the attenuation occurs in the quiet sections between words or sentences. “A” is the fastest setting and “F” the slowest. “A” attenuates the level quickly, which can be an advantage if the singer sings evenly and the feedback howl is a challenge. “F” is safest when it comes to slowly lowering the level, but it can be a little slow when it rises again, and it can be a little slow when it comes to controlling some annoying feedback. “C” and “D” are moderate settings that are suitable for many situations and generally decay slowly enough to not affect the ends of words, but fast enough to control feedback. Choose the most appropriate time constant that does not soften the beginning and end of phrases, but still reduces feedback and the “boominess” of the signal.
RMS / PEAK
Illuminated pushbutton that switches between RMS and Peak detection modes. When lit, the 5045 is in PEAK mode – useful for detecting fast transient peaks and for creative dynamic envelope shaping. When not lit, the 5045 is in RMS mode, which uses a slower, more averaged response characteristic in the sidechain.
THRESHOLD
Sets the dBu level at which the Primary Source Enhancer is activated.
PROCESS ACTIVE
This LED indicates when the 5045 is actively acting on the signal – i.e. when the input signal has exceeded the gain threshold. As this LED should normally light up when the desired source is present (e.g. a singer singing), it is extremely helpful when setting up the 5045 for use.
DEPTH
The “DEPTH” control is used to set how much the signal is attenuated after it has fallen below the value set with “THRESHOLD”. “0” means zero attenuation and the 5045 will do nothing. “-10 dB” is a moderate attenuation and relatively certain that a word or part of a word will not be accidentally cut off. “-20 dB” attenuates more, but can be a bit choppy. The goal is to set the “DEPTH” control so that it does not cut off parts of softly spoken words while combating a difficult feedback problem, especially with singers who sing softly one moment and loudly the next and require loud monitors.
