Eventide Clockworks Bundle

The Eventide Clockworks Bundle is a collection of six software plug-ins that emulate historic Eventide studio effects processors from 1972 to 1981. Included are the Instant Phaser Mk II, Instant Flanger Mk II, Omnipressor, H910 Harmonizer, H949 Harmonizer, and SP2016 Reverb. The effect categories include phasing, flanging, dynamics processing, pitch shifting, delay, modulation, and algorithmic reverb. Eventide developed the plug-ins based on the respective hardware models and provides factory presets for each processor tailored to different instruments and applications.

Instant Phaser Mk II is based on the 1972 Eventide PS 101 Instant Phaser. The plug-in emulates the phase shift of the analog studio processor and offers three characteristics: Shallow, Deep, and Wide. In Wide mode, different phase shifts are generated for the left and right channels. The Age parameter alters the behavior based on component drift in older hardware devices, as studied by Eventide. Manual, Oscillator, Envelope, and Remote are available for controlling the phase movement. Envelope mode can be controlled via a sidechain input, while Remote assigns the effect control to a modulation source.

Instant Flanger Mk II emulates the 1975 Eventide FL 201 Instant Flanger. The processor is designed for electronic flanging effects and, along with Instant Phaser Mk II, is one of the modulation tools included in the Clockworks Bundle. Eventide lists the original FL 201 as the hardware basis for the plug-in emulation.

Omnipressor is based on the Eventide dynamics processor of the same name from the 1970s. The plug-in is designed for compressing and expanding audio signals and replicates the control range and operating concept of the original hardware. Within the Clockworks Bundle, Omnipressor handles dynamics processing, while the other included processors are geared toward modulation, pitch shifting, delay, and reverb.

The Eventide H910 Harmonizer is a software emulation of the first Eventide Harmonizer processor. The plug-in combines pitch shifting, modulation, and delay. The pitch function can be used for musical intervals, harmonies, detuning, signal doubling, and sound broadening. Additionally, delay, feedback, and anti-feedback are available for slapback effects, self-oscillation, and more complex effect structures. Pitch can be controlled via MIDI; an envelope follower for signal-dependent modulation is also built in.

The H910 family also includes the H910 Dual. This version emulates the parallel operation of two H910 processors within a single plug-in instance. This allows two pitch-shift signal paths to be used simultaneously for stereo and doubling effects. Eventide confirms that the H910 Dual is included in the Clockworks license.

The H949 Harmonizer expands on this concept by adding de-glitch processing for pitch changes. The H949 algorithm uses an autocorrelation method that automatically determines the cut-off points during signal processing. Alternatively, a simple crossfade method can be selected to preserve the characteristic glitch behavior of the original processing. The native version also includes H949 Dual, which emulates two units operating in parallel and enables simultaneous pitch shifts, doubling, and stereo widening.

SP2016 Reverb is based on the 1981 Eventide SP2016 and adds algorithmic room simulation to the Clockworks Bundle. The processor is one of the six emulations explicitly listed by Eventide as part of the bundle. Together with the harmonizer, modulation, and dynamics plug-ins, SP2016 Reverb enables the creation of classic production and effects chains within a compatible DAW.

The user interfaces of the Clockworks plug-ins are modeled after the dark meter and front-panel designs of the respective hardware devices. Eventide lists thousands of presets for the entire bundle. The presets cover a variety of instruments and use cases and can be used as a starting point for mixing, music production, live performances, and sound design.

The Eventide Clockworks Bundle is available as 64-bit software for Windows and macOS. On Windows, AAX, VST2, and VST3 are supported; Eventide specifies Windows 10 on x64 systems as the minimum operating system requirement. On macOS, AAX, Audio Units, VST2, and VST3 are available. It supports macOS 10.14 or later, as well as Intel and Apple Silicon processors. License activation is done via an iLok account; a physical iLok USB dongle is not required.
